I'm a software engineer who loves building design systems and
component libraries that empower teams to create beloved
products faster. My work lives at the intersection of design and
engineering crafting accessible, well-architected UI
infrastructure that scales across hundreds of teams while
maintaining flexibility for individual product needs.
Currently, I'm a Senior Software Engineer at Shopify, where I
work on Polaris, our design system used by 100+ internal teams
and thousands of third-party developers. I focus on design
system architecture, token systems, and driving adoption through
tooling and documentation that makes the system truly flourish
(and LLM friendly).
In the past, I've had the opportunity to build and scale design
systems across different contexts from founding systems at
startups to contributing to enterprise platforms at IBM and
Indeed. I've driven adoption to 90%+ across Shopify Admin, led
token system refactors supporting major redesigns, and built
accessible component libraries serving millions of users
globally.
When I'm not writing code, you can find me strength training,
cooking healthy meals, exploring minimalist design, or
reflecting on goals and systems thinking.
Lead technical initiatives advancing Polaris, Shopify's design
system. Work closely with cross-functional teams including
designers, product managers, and engineers across the company
to build scalable component solutions and establish patterns
that balance consistency with product flexibility.
Drove adoption to 90%+ across Shopify admin through improved
documentation and tooling
Built the next evolution of Polaris as web components
enabling Shopify Apps to build in any framework
Led comprehensive token and component system refactor
supporting the
Polaris uplift redesign
Developed core libraries, tools, and documentation for
Indeed's internal design system. Worked with a team of
designers and engineers to create and maintain the central
design system for all core products resulting in improved
operational efficiency, brand alignment, and design
consistency.
Built highly accessible interactive components including
modals, dropdowns, pickers, and navigation patterns
following WCAG standards
Created comprehensive component documentation and usage
guidelines
Collaborated remotely on developing GitLab's Community and
Enterprise web application. Worked fully remote and
asynchronously with developers and designers across global
time zones, contributing to UI components and features.
Developed specialized web application for Oak Ridge National
Laboratory with highly customized interface requirements.
Architected CSS systems and responsive layouts to meet strict
usability and compliance standards for research operations.
